Learn Beyond the Classroom

- It is time to update your Learning Beyond the Classroom portfolio and score some points. You have done lots of experiential learning, so take some time and submit reports on activities already completed.
- May 2023 graduates: remember that you must have completed the program by the end of January 2023 in order to earn the LBC certificate.
- If you have submitted a report, check and see if you have been asked to supply more information. If you find that you have received “0” points on a report, click on your score and you will see what questions you have been asked to answer. Resubmit your report with the required information so that your LBC points can be updated.

Last week, approximately 25 WISPers gathered to have fun and showcase their trivia knowledge…fun was had by all these smarties! This week, we “Developed their Professional Toolbox as an Undergrad Student” from our very own Danielle Sheese, Associate Director for Career Development and Retention, as well as Marissa Gargano, Actuary with Nationwide Insurance and past leadership team member, Jinan Ayub, who is currently attending medical school. The trio shared experiences, insights, and strategies for students to market themselves for post-graduation that can be applied now. WISPers are meeting as a mentor/mentee pair with their leadership team member before fall break to receive an additional layer of personal and professional support.

Fall Undergraduate Research Expo |

| Students who are currently working on or have completed research, scholarly, or creative projects can submit project abstracts to present during the Fall Undergraduate Research Expo from November 14-21. Abstracts must be submitted by Monday, October 17 at noon via the application website. Presenters can select if they want to present in-person or virtual. The in-person poster symposium will be Nov. 14 in the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms with two presentation options: 10am-11:30am and 1pm-2:30pm. The in-person research talks will be Nov. 16 in Stewart Center 214 with a schedule created based on selected presenters’ availability. Awards will be dispersed to top presenters at this year’s Fall Expo.Research projects do not have to be completed by the time of the Fall Expo. The presentation would include what has been accomplished so far. |

Experiential Ed Scholarships |
|
The Office of ExEd has a scholarship opportunity for students participating in experiential education. Student must be participating in an experiential education opportunity offered by Purdue University. To qualify, students must be a Purdue West Lafayette undergraduate or PharmD student, in good academic standing, enrolled full-time or part-time, and meet the financial aid citizenship requirements. Scholarships can be awarded in amounts of up to $2000. The amount awarded may vary depending on the type of experiential education opportunity and expenses related to the experience. Scholarships are merit-based, and these funds are intended to supplement other scholarship funds or a student’s own personal funds
To qualify, applications must be submitted by the appropriate due date as listed below:
- For winter term and spring funds, applications are due by November 1
- For summer 2023 funds, applications are due by February 22
To apply, students will need to complete the Experiential Education Scholarship application found on the ExEd website
